On June 2-9 this year, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (concurrently) Vasyl M. Servatiuk made a business trip to the city of Kabul of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
During his stay in the Afghan capital, the head of the Ukrainian Embassy held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Haneef Atmar, the Minister of Internal Affairs Hayatullah Hayat, the Minister of Higher Education Ghulam Abbas Basir, the prosecutor general Zabihullah Kalim; the Acting Minister of industry and trade S. Bin Shah, members of the upper and lower houses of the Parliament of Afghanistan (in particular, the head of the International Affairs Committee Attiq Ramin and the head of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group "Afghanistan-Ukraine" Volesi Jirga M. Nurzai), the Director General of Kabul International Airport named after Hamid Karzai M. Rahemi, the leadership of the border police, the Directors General of the third political, contractual and legal, consular departments, the UN Department and international conferences, the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
During the meetings with high-ranking representatives of the Afghan Side, issues and specific ways to activate political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, military-technical cooperation, inter-parliamentary dialogue, consular cooperation, expanding the legal framework, strengthening partnership in the international arena, as well as cooperation in the field of education were discussed.
Special attention was paid to the protection of the territorial integrity of our state, the "Crimean Platform", strengthening the Ukrainian economic presence in Afghanistan, implementing the agreements of the second meeting of the Ukrainian-Afghan Joint Intergovernmental Commission on trade and Economic Cooperation, and preparing a roadmap for cooperation between the two states.
During the visit of the Head of the Embassy in Kabul on June 3, a telephone conversation was organized between the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro I. Kuleba and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Haneef Atmar, which was the first contact between the foreign ministers of the two countries since 2008.
