On May 17, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan were held the political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and the Republic of Tajikistan at the level of Deputy Ministers.
This event was a logical continuation of the political consultations that were organized last year in Kyiv at the level of heads of territorial structural divisions of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister Yevheniy Yenin, and Director of the Fourth Territorial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhe Pikalov also arrived in the capital of Tajikistan.
The Tajik delegation was headed by the newly appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sodiq Imomi, the delegation also included the heads of relevant departments and departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
During the consultations, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation of mutual interest for Ukraine and Tajikistan – political, economic, consular, legal, cultural and humanitarian issues. They also exchanged views on the security situation in the region.
A strategic agreement was reached on the conclusion of a Program of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2022.
The central event of the political consultations was the meeting of Yevheniy Yenin with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjiddin Muhriddin, during which the positive dynamics of the development of Ukrainian-Tajik relations were noted and a high interest in their further activation was expressed.
Also during his stay in Dushanbe, Yevheniy Yenin met with the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, Daler Juma, with whom the prospects for further participation of Ukrainian enterprises in the development of the energy sector of the Republic were discussed in detail.
In addition, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine met with Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdurakhmon Abdurakhmonzoda and Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Rukhshona Nasriddinzoda, who was recently appointed co-chair of the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Tajik Commission on Economic Cooperation. During the talks, the parties discussed the organization of the Sixth Meeting of the QMS in Dushanbe and paid attention to possible ways to enhance the bilateral economic partnership. The opportunities of individual Ukrainian enterprises were also presented.
