On October 14 the Embassy of Ukraine in Dushanbe held celebrations on the occasion of Defender of Ukraine Day.

On this important occasion, a thematic photo exhibition dedicated to the Ukrainian Army was organized in the premises of the Ukrainian Diplomatic Mission. It paid special attention not only to the Development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the present stage, but also to the struggle of Ukrainians against Russian aggression in the East of Ukraine, and the temporary occupation of the Crimean Peninsula, which is an integral part of Ukraine.

The National Flag of Ukraine was solemnly raised over the Embassy, after which the staff of the Diplomatic Mission, as well as members of their families, laid flowers at the monument to the great Ukrainian poet, writer and artist Taras Shevchenko, which was set up in the courtyard of the Embassy on a pedestal this year.

The photo exhibition was attended by representatives of the Diplomatic Corps of Tajikistan, as well as guests of the Embassy.

Defender's Day is a major public holiday in Ukraine. It was established as a public holiday in 2014, and has been a public holiday since 2015.

This day is special: October, 14 consists of several significant dates for the Ukrainian people. In particular, on October, 14 Ukrainians celebrate the day of the Intercession of the most Holy Virgin and the day of Ukrainian Kossaks.

Also, October 14, 1942 is the day of the formation of the Ukrainian Rebell Army, which during the World War II fought on two fronts: against the German occupiers, and also fought for the freedom of Ukraine against the bolsheviks.

Being a military in Ukraine is prestigious and honorable, and the Day of October, 14 is an important and proud date for every Ukrainian!
