On September 2, 2016 a reception on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine was held at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Tajikistan.
On behalf of the Government of Tajikistan Makhmadsharif Khakdod, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan congratulated Embassy guests and praised the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.
Noting the achievements of Ukraine in the years of independence, Viktor Nikitiuk, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Tajikistan, also reminded about the historical facts of the beginning of the Second World War (September 1, 1939) and in this context stressed the inadmissibility of the criminal revision of the borders in Europe and the danger of appeasement policy. Participants were also informed about the World Day of Solidarity with Ilmi Umerov to be held on September 3rd of this year.
Viktor Nikitiuk and Makhmadsharif Khakdod presented awards to the winners and participants of the international competition "Taras Shevchenko brings people together."
The guests of the Embassy gladly listened to a concert performed by Tajik artists. Particular attention of the event was attracted by a photo exhibition "25 Years of Independence of Ukraine" based on materials of Ukrainian News Agency "Ukrinform", retro-car "Zaporozhets", courtesy of the Tajik collector-motorist Habib Kaharov and an art exhibition in folk style "Petrykivka" by the spouse of Ambassador of Ukraine Svitlana Nikitiuk.
Official reception was attended by representatives of the Government and the Parliament of Tajikistan, business community and public, diplomatic corps, Ukrainian diaspora and mass media.
